LAUNCH OF THE PLATFORM "ESSENTIAL OILS FROM A TO Z"!

 

We are delighted to announce that the "Essential Oils from A to Z" platform is now accessible to all, following the official launch ceremony that took place on Friday, May 24, 2024 at the World Bank Anosy in the presence of the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Mr. Max Andonirina FONTAINE, the Country Manager Representative of the World Bank in Madagascar, Mr. Atou SECK, and the Head of Cooperation of the European Union, Mr. Arnaud BORCHARD.

 

In partnership with the World Bank, and with the support of the European Union, the launch of this platform is the result of a fruitful collaboration between the Malagasy private and public sectors. Moreover, several entities of the latter were present at this launch, including the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade, represented by the Technical Advisor to the Minister, Mr. Christian RASOAMANANA, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as well as the EDBM, led by its Director General, Mrs. Josielle RAFIDY.

On the private sector side, the Group of Exporters of Essential Oils, Extracts and Oleoresins of Madagascar (GEHEM) was represented by its President, Mr. Andrandraina RASOLONJATOVO. In his speech, he expressed the group's and its members' gratitude for the completion of this platform, a concrete tool that meets the expectations of the sector's actors. Indeed, many companies operating in the sector, whether in production, marketing or export, also participated in the event.

During the discussion, the importance of access to reliable and up-to-date information on the sector for the actors in the value chain as well as the potential for development of the sector were highlighted. The head of cooperation of the European Union delegation also highlighted the decrease in export volume, making this platform even more crucial as an opportunity to revitalize the sector. In addition, the speakers also highlighted the opportunities for industrialization that could result in the potential creation of thousands of jobs, as well as the strong demand for products on the European and American markets, thus opening up promising prospects for exports. The possibility of extending this innovation to other sectors for their development was also mentioned.

Hosted by EDBM, this platform is intended for all actors in the sector, "from plant to bottle", and simplifies access to crucial information such as the different procedures or regulations. At the end of the launch, a roadmap to facilitate formalities and procedures should be introduced to support the competitiveness of the sector, an initiative that would require public-private dialogues (PPD) that EDBM is called upon to coordinate.
